For example, 1,500 square feet of backyard fescue on an LVVWD account comes to about $10,500 back at the top rate, before any tree money.
The Catch Nobody Tells You
Why Turf Only Installers Can't Get You This Money
Artificial turf alone doesn't qualify. SNWA only pays when at least half the new yard is living, drought tolerant plants once they grow in. Pull the grass, roll out wall to wall turf, and you've walked away from the whole payout.
Permeable pavers, flagstone, and decomposed granite count when they're paired with that plant cover. Poured concrete doesn't. So the layout that gets paid is a mix: pavers where you walk, desert plants for the canopy, and turf only where it earns its spot.

An Honest Note
Just Got the Keys to a New Build?
The rebate pays to convert existing grass, so a new build with a bare dirt backyard usually has nothing to claim. If the builder put in a front lawn, that grass may qualify, and we'll check it for you.

Answered Straight Before You Call
$5 per square foot on the first 10,000 square feet, then $2.50. LVVWD customers get $2 more, Henderson adds a flat $575, and each qualifying tree is $100. We confirm current rates for your address before we quote.
SNWA has to inspect the existing lawn first. If it's already gone, there's nothing to inspect and you lose the rebate, so we book the inspection and wait for written approval before we touch it.

The fine print: Rebate amounts are set by the Southern Nevada Water Authority, the Las Vegas Valley Water District, and the City of Henderson, and they are subject to change and to program funding. Rates shown were confirmed June 2026 and may differ when you apply, so verify current rates at snwa.com. Eligibility requires a pre conversion inspection by SNWA before any turf is removed, and the converted area must reach at least 50 percent living plant cover at maturity. Artificial turf does not count toward the living plant requirement. Your final rebate depends on the measured square footage you convert, your water provider, your city, and the program rules in effect when you apply.
