The Short Answer

Modern slab goes with stucco and glass builds, rustic cobble with stone clad and ranch homes, and travertine in a French pattern with tile roof Mediterranean houses. Holland herringbone fits most traditional suburban homes. Stand 30 feet back and squint, and if the pavers blend into the house, you matched well.

The biggest mistake we see in older installs is "I picked the one I liked at the showroom." That's how a Tuscan style house ends up with sleek modern slab out front. The pavers were fine. The match wasn't.

Modern & Minimalist

Large format slabs, 24 by 24 or bigger, with sharp edges, tight joints, and one cool gray or warm beige. It goes with stucco, glass, flat rooflines, and most homes built after 2005. Don't go small here, because small pavers in a modern setting look fussy.

Rustic & Natural

Tumbled cobble with weathered edges and mixed color blends in a random pattern. It looks like it's been there 50 years the day it's finished, suits stone clad and ranch homes, and hides desert dust better than anything else.

Mediterranean & Coastal

Travertine in a French pattern, cream and gold, maybe with a terracotta accent strip. It suits tile roofs, arched entries, and Tuscan stucco, and travertine is also the coolest surface we install.

Classic & Traditional

Holland pavers in herringbone or running bond, in charcoal and cream blends with a soldier course border. It fits most suburban homes from the 1980s on. If your house doesn't match the other three, classic is almost never wrong, and herringbone gives a driveway the strongest interlock.

Can You Mix Two Styles?

Yes, when one leads and the other accents. A modern slab field with a rustic cobble border works. A 50/50 split doesn't, because neither style wins. If you want equal amounts of two looks, put them in separate zones with a clean transition.
